Young baijiu typically has a sharper, more intense flavor profile. When kept unopened under proper storage conditions, it can age gracefully for decades, gradually developing a smoother, mellower character.

However, once opened, the original seal is compromised. Even with the cap tightly closed, baijiu can slowly evaporate due to alcohol volatility, leading to gradual quality degradation. Exposure to heat, light, or humidity may further accelerate flavor loss and oxidation.

Does baijiu go bad after opening?

*For optimal flavor, consume opened baijiu within 7 days in summer or 10-14 days in winter. To slow oxidation:*

  • Recap tightly immediately after each use
  • Store upright in a cool, dark place
  • Avoid temperature fluctuations
